Well, remember that post I made a few days ago, about our insurance telling us we didn't have dental coverage, and then saying oops, we DID have coverage, and so on? Well, picture me today. It's a beautiful but chilly November afternoon, lamenting Michael Crichton's passing and mentally celebrating Obama's victory. I'm physically in the dentist's chair, just finishing up getting my X-Rays, when I'm told by the scheduler that my insurance card doesn't have any information about my plan. I'm then told that the office tried calling my insurance, only to be told that I don't exist, under my name OR under my social security number.
UGH!
So I canceled the rest of the cleaning, paid $50 cash for the bite wings, and now I'm sitting on my computer pounding away on my keyboard in anger, while Roy is on the phone trying to figure out WTF is going on and what the hell is wrong with Regence Blueshield and why they keep giving us the finger.
4:45 PM UPDATE
Well, Roy was finally able to get through to someone. Turns out, yes, we do have insurance. However, because we called them on the 15th of last month asking them why a Regence representative mistakenly told us we didn't have coverage, and because we told them we wanted to be reimbursed for those two months that we were told we weren't covered (but still billed) for, Regence decided to put our account into "Pending" status without telling us until they had a chance to "review" our complaint...for nearly a whole month. I'm sorry, but does it really take from October 15th until November 5th to read a complaint? And to put our insurance ON HOLD and make it unavailable to us at that time, and not even mention it to us?
Ugh. I am so pissed off...and to make things worse, Regence is refusing to remove our pending status until they've sent us a letter claiming they've reviewed our complaint and we've signed it and sent it back. This means that we've essentially lost an entire month of coverage because of their own shoddy communication skills, and now we can't go to the dentist until they've managed to remove their brains from their bottoms.
Alright, alright, I realize that Regence's dental coverage is only a few months old and that the department consists of only two people, but come ON. Don't offer coverage if you can't even fraking follow through with it! It's not our fault your department is so small. You should have thought of that before you started offering dental coverage!
AAAAAAAAARGH. That's all I have to say about that. But Bearable Dentistry were very sympathetic and patient with me and had no qualms with ending my appointment and canceling Roy's. Hopefully Regence can sort this out, cause I want my teeth cleaned, dangit!
